Douglas Silver
Editorial Consultant and Writing Coach
Doug specializes in editing and offering insightful, constructive feedback on all forms of narrative writing—including short stories, novellas, novels, memoirs, and narrative essays. His primary passion lies in literary fiction, but he is especially drawn to genre-bending work that challenges convention and resists easy classification. Doug thrives in collaboration with both emerging and established writers who are deeply committed to refining their craft and elevating their manuscripts to the highest level.
With a strong background in historical research, Doug brings particular expertise to projects that incorporate historical elements. His research experience spans stand-up comedy, 19th- and 20th-century American history, post–World War II Japan, and Jewish culture, allowing him to support writers with both narrative development and historical authenticity. In addition to manuscript editing, he is eager to assist with book and story research, as well as submission strategies for literary magazines.
Doug also has extensive experience editing grant proposals, academic papers, college and graduate school application essays, statements of purpose, and professional cover letters.
